Snake River Wildlife Report for June 2, 2019

Snake River Wildlife Float Trip

Another great week floating the Snake River! Below you will find the checklists for the June 2nd Snake River wildlife float trip and camp totals. We had 40 species of birds and 3 species of mammals and 1 species of snake on the river and 30 species of birds in the camp. A very good day, even with high water.

Cassie and Len did a FABULOUS job getting us into eddies and anchoring so we could scope out the eagle nests. Sad part of the day is hearing that one of the moose we saw close to the put-in area was later hit by a truck after being chased out of the woods by on-lookers! We should also consider the snake a fatality since it was fighting with a Common Raven as the bird was flying away with it. Thanks everyone for your assistance and your enthusiasm!
